He completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College (DMC), holds BCS (Health) and FCPS (Surgery) qualifications, and earned an MS in Hepatobiliary Surgery from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BMU). He further trained as a Fellow in Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic & Liver Transplant Surgery at Apollo Hospital, Delhi, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
